Rotary Club of Chicago/ONE to host EPiC ADB Send-off

ChicagoONE.pngThe Founding Club of Rotary,  Rotary Club of Chicago/ONE is hosting the send-off for Edwin A. Velarde as he ride his bicycle from Chicago to Atlanta (read more –  EPiC Journey through America’s Diabetes Belt).  The Official EPiC Send-Off social event will be held at the Rotary Centennial Garden adjacent to the Adler Planetarium on May 30th, 2017.  Chair of Community Service, Peter Schmitz is organizing this wonderful gesture of support.  Thank you Peter!

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) – Chicago staff and supporters are also attending the send-off.  Regional Philanthropy Officer for the ADA, Jenna Archuletta will be joining Edwin during the send-off ride along with Margo Hewko and other Chicago Rotarians and friends.

Gathering at the Rotary Centennial Garden will start at 3:30PM on Tuesday, May 30th.  and the Send-off Ride to Munster, IN will start rolling at 4:45PM.

The Rotary Centennial Garden opened in 2005 during the Rotary International Convention and is located along very prestigious property on Lake Michigan.  It features beautiful landscape and 201 pavers representing the 201 countries or territories where Rotary have been established as of 2005.

Centennial_Garden.PNGThe Garden is a permanent memorial for the birthplace of the service club movement in 1905 and is part of the Rotary Heritage Tour that includes the Paul & Jean Harris Home, The site of Chicago/ONE Club Meeting and the Rotary International Headquarters.  It is a great honor to be supported by the Founding Club of Rotary!
